Junior Year
● Meet with College Counselor: Ensures that you are on track and prepared for the next steps toward college, additionally allows for early identification of any areas that need attention before senior year ● Testing: Register for the ACT and or SAT (not required but highly recommended as specific colleges/universities require scores) ● NCAA Eligibility: If interested in playing Division I or II sports, register with the NCAA Eligibility Center. ● Meet College Reps: Attend visits and explore potential majors. ● Scholarship Search: Continue applying for scholarships. ● Class Visits: College counselor will visit classes to get students started on the Common Application and Scoir.
Summer Before Senior Year
● Testing: Retake the ACT/SAT as needed. ● College Visits: Visit as many colleges as possible. ● Start Early Applications: Begin Early Action applications if applicable. ● Letter of Recommendation: Request teachers' letters of recommendation through Scoir
Senior Year
● Meet with College Counselor: Narrow down to 6-8 colleges and begin submitting applications. ● Letters of Recommendation: Request recommendations ● Essay & Resume: Work on your college essay and update your resume. ● Take Tests: Register for the fall SAT/ACT if needed. ● Financial Aid: Attend FAFSA and financial aid workshops.
● Submit FAFSA: Complete on or after January 1st. ● Review Financial Aid: Evaluate aid packages and make your college choice.
